Description

Cramlington, Northumberland born right half Bill Inglis played for Wallsend Juniors and was on the books of Derby County in 1921 without making their first team, playing for Hebburn Colliery in 1921 before joining Brentford in May 1922, for whom he made his Football League debut at Norwich City in September the same year, becoming a regular for The Bees, mainly playing at right or centre half.

After three seasons at Griffin Park, during which time he scored once in 87 appearances, he joined Reading in May 1925, playing 27 matches, many at left half, as they won the Third Division (South) Championship in his first season with The Royals. A strongly built half back, he was also part of their 1927 FA Cup semi final team that lost 2-0 to eventual winners Cardiff City at Molineux. He played 10 cup ties during the run, and was a near ever present for two seasons, missing only one match a season in 1926-27 and 1927-28.

But in 1928 he lost his place in the first eleven and after a single goal in 136 appearances he joined Exeter City in June 1930. He stayed only a single season in Devon, making 15 appearances for The Grecians, before joining Stockport County in August 1931, where he scored once in 36 appearances. He joined Watford in July 1932, making 12 appearances before joining Kent League club Dartford in the summer of 1933. He subsequently played for and managed (from 1935) Cray Wanderers in Kent between 1934 and 1936.
