Description

Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Yorkshire born centre half Westby Heath started his professional football career with Southern League club Luton Town in 1914 but after the First World War, during which he served in the Armed Forces, he joined Second Division club Stockport County, making his Football League debut against Stoke City in October 1919, scoring in a 3-1 win. The following season he established himself as a first team regular and although they were relegated in 1920-21, Heath missed only 8 matches and scored 7 goals as County won the Third Division (North) Championship in 1922-23 at the first time of asking. However back at the higher level he lost his place in December 1922 and played only 4 more times for Stockport before the season end.

Whilst with the Edgeley Park club, Heath scored 16 goals, 8 of which came from the penalty spot, in 92 matches over four seasons for The Hatters before joining Chester in 1923, then still playing non league football, playing in the Cheshire County League, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
