Aston, Birmingham born inside left Harry Griffiths began his football career with Park Mills and played for Lichfield Leomansley in 1896 and Redditch Excelsior in 1897 before joining Second Division club Burton Swifts in April 1898, making his Football League debut against Gainsborough Trinity the same month. Griffiths was an ever present for the next two seasons, when he was The Swifts’ top goalscorer with 15 and 12 goals respectively, but after 27 goals in 77 appearances he joined Southern League club Bristol Rovers in the 1900 close season.

After a season at Eastville he joined Reading in 1901, and after two seasons at Elm Park he returned to Football League action when he was signed by First Division Nottingham Forest in May 1903. However he struggled to make an impression in the top flight and after a single goal in 8 appearances he re-joined Bristol Rovers in 1904, and after a brief spell with Millwall Athletic in 1905 he joined non league Kidderminster Harriers the same year, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
