Watford, Hertfordshire born inside forward Harvey Darvill was signed by Second Division club Fulham from non league side Ilford, whom he’d joined in 1919, making his debut for The Cottagers at Sheffield Wednesday in November 1921. During his first three seasons he always played over 20 matches a season.
By the time of his death in November 1924 he had scored 10 goals in 75 appearances, and played all but two matches that season, however he tragically died as a result of injuries sustained in a collision with Coventry City’s goalkeeper. After playing in the 2-0 home win, Harvey returned to his home in Watford but on complaining of stomach pains was admitted to hospital. Diagnosed as having a burst blood vessel he sadly died the following Wednesday.
His younger brother Alfred played once for Watford.
