Preston born winger Edward Darlington started his football career with local junior clubs Preston St Mark’s in 1899, Broughton in 1900, Oswaldtwistle Rovers in 1901 and Chorley in 1904, from where he moved to Second Division Blackpool in 1905, making his Football League debut against Burton United on 2nd September of that year. Indeed he made 4 appearances in 9 days, playing in wins over Burton and Port Vale and defeats to Manchester United and Chelsea, but never made another appearance for Blackpool.
