Description

Johannesburg, South Africa born right half Bruce Clarke began his football career with Hillside Juniors and joined Montrose in 1927 from where he signed for Scottish League club Third Lanark in 1928. He had five years at Caithkin Park before moving to the French League, following many professional players at the time, where he played for Corale A of Paris for a season before signing for Second Division club Fulham in the 1934 close season. He made his Football League debut against Plymouth Argyle that August, missing only two matches in his debut season which also saw him score his only goal for Fulham in a 4-1 win over Blackpool in September 1934.

After three seasons as a regular in the first team, he lost his place in the team at the start of the 1937-38 season, and played only 7 more matches for The Cottagers in the final two seasons before the outbreak of the Second World War, before joining Southern League club Worcester City in the summer of 1939 after 114 appearances for Fulham.
