Description
Rotherham born inside forward William Chambers joined Rotherham County his hometown club from Mexborough in 1919, having joined Mexborough in 1918, making his Football League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in April 1920. Over 6 seasons at Millmoor, with a one season break in 1923-24 when he joined Denaby United for the season before returning the following summer, he made 108 appearances for The Millers, scoring 9 goals during a period where they generally were struggling to make headway in Division Three (North). He never played for another League club, playing his last match in April 1925.
