Description

Inside forward Noah Burton was born at Old Basford and joined First Division Derby County after the First World War, having played in local football for Ilkeston before it, making his Football League debut against Manchester United in August 1919. During his two seasons at The Baseball Ground he scored 16 goals in 61 games for Derby, but when they were relegated in 1921 Burton was sold to Nottingham Forest.

In his first season with Forest, he missed only one match as they won the Second Division Championship and he was then an ever present in 1922-23 in their First Division campaign as they just managed to survive relegation, finishing twentieth, and although they were eventually relegated in 1925 he remained with the club. He enjoyed more than a decade at The City Ground, making 321 appearances and scoring 62 goals, playing his last match for Forest against Bury in December 1931 before joining non league Nottingham East End in 1934 ahead of his eventual retirement.
