Description

Lurgan born left back was the youngest of 3 footballing brothers, Joe and Sam both played for Distillery (Joe also for Bolton, Sam for Bradford Park Avenue) and Ireland before the First World War. Harold joined Belfast Distillery from Queen’s Park (Lurgan) and was captain of the Distillery team which won the Irish Cup and Irish Gold Cup in 1925. Described at the time as “A brainy defender” he was apparently close to signing for both Bolton Wanderers and Everton but for a knee injury.
