Description
Inside left John Browning was a member of the Albion Rovers team beaten in a replay by Motherwell in the 1934 Scottish Cup quarter finals, winning the Scottish League Second Division Championship the same season, when they took the title by a point from Dunfermline Athletic. Of the five seasons immediately before the Second World War Rovers spent all but one of them as a top-flight side. Browning was described as “a sound, constructive player… and a favourite at Cliftonhill”, he also played left half for Albion Rovers as well as in the forward line.
(nb not to be confused with John Browning who played for Liverpool in the 1930’s and Albion Rovers as a wartime guest)
