Description

Glasgow born left half George Brown joined Glasgow Rangers from Glasgow Ashfield in September 1929 and made his Scottish League debut two months later against Ayr United, scoring in a 9-0 victory. Within a year his talent was rewarded with his first Scottish international cap when he made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Wales at Ibrox in October 1930, which would be one of 19 caps he would win through to May 1938, captaining Scotland on two occasions, and also played for Scotland in a February 1941 wartime international. He also represented The Scottish League on five occasions between November 1931 and October 1936.

He went on to make 339 appearances scoring 23 goals in a period of domination for Rangers in a career cut short by the Second World War, winning seven Scottish League Championships and four Scottish Cups before retiring in 1942. After retiring from playing, Brown became a director at Rangers
