Kelvinside born inside forward Billy Brae joined Ayr United in 1923 from Petershill and was a star player as they won the Scottish Second Division Championship in 1927-28. He played 12 seasons at Somerset Park before joining Swindon Town in August 1935 where he made a scoring debut in a 5-3 victory over Luton Town the next month, which proved to be his only Robins goal in 8 appearances during 1935-36. He joined non league Cheltenham Town in 1936 subsequently playing for Evesham Town in 1937.
