Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire born inside right Albert Tetlow began his football career towards the end of the First World War playing for Birch Villa and Dukinfield in 1917 and New Moss Colliery in 1918 before signing for Central League club Stalybridge Celtic in December 1918, and when Stalybridge joined the Third Division (North) in 1921, Tetlow made his Football League debut against Rochdale that November. In his second season of League football he scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over Grimsby Town at Bower Fold in March 1923, but when Stalybridge lost their League status at the end of the 1922-23 season, Tetlow joined First Division Nottingham Forest after 14 goals in 32 appearances for Celtic during their League era.
He spent 1923-24 in the reserves at Forest, without making their first eleven, and in May 1924 he joined Walsall, scoring 7 goals in 18 appearances for The Saddlers but at the end of the season he was released and joined non league Chadderton, subsequently playing for Ashton Moss Colliery later in 1925 and Ashton Brothers in 1926 before his eventual retirement.
