Wrestlingworth, Bedfordshire born outside right Sydney Beaumont began his football career playing for Biggleswade and Colchester Town, from where he joined Second Division Lincoln City in November 1904, making his Football League debut against Barnsley the next month. He made a further 4 appearances through to the end of February but returned to non league football joining Biggleswade & District in September 1905.

After an unsuccessful trial with Chelsea in August 1907, Beaumont joined Southern League Watford in September 1909, where he also played at right half, scoring once in 27 appearances before a return to League action with Preston North End, who bought him for £25 in July 1911. He played just once in the top flight in a defeat at Oldham Athletic in January 1912 before being released, joining Merthyr Town in the 1912 close season. After a season at Merthyr where he made 15 appearances, he joined Troedyrhiw in 1913 before retiring from playing, becoming Barry Town’s manager soon thereafter.

He remained with Barry Town either side of the First World War, where he guided them to the Southern League (Welsh Section) Championship in 1921 eventually joining Llanelli, initially as Secretary, in 1921, becoming their manager for a brief spell in May 1924 before taking up his first post as a manager in the Football League when he took over in July 1924, leaving Aberdare exactly two years later. A year later he took over as manager of Blackpool in August 1927 but lasted only a season at Bloomfield Road, leaving in May 1928. He became Secretary-manager of Bangor City in July 1928 and was subsequently assistant trainer at Chester between 1936 and 1939.
