Description

Stockingford, near Nuneaton, Warwickshire born right back Billy Barrett began his football career with Stockingford Congregationals in 1910 played for Bromsgrove Rovers in 1911 and Nuneaton Town in 1912 prior to the First World War. After the War joined Leicester City (then still known as Leicester Fosse until 1920) in the summer of 1919, making his Football League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 1919.

He missed only four matches in the first post-war season and made 152 appearances for The Foxes over the next five years, scoring twice, both goals coming from the penalty spot, but lost his place at the start of the 1924-25 season and played only 3 matches in 1924-25 before moving to Derby County in 1925 but he failed to make their first team. He signed for non league Hinckley United in 1926 and played for Birmingham & District League club Hereford United in 1927 before his eventual retirement.
