Description

Kensington, London born left half Richard Barker represented Repton School, where he attended between 1883 and 1887 where he was in the football XI in 1886. Barker played football as wing half on both the left and the right flanks. He made 43 appearances for Corinthians between 1893 and 1900. He also played for The Casuals and helped them reach the first F.A. Amateur Cup Final in 1894, where they lost to Old Carthusians at The Athletic Ground, Richmond.

The following season he won his only England cap when he played in a 1-1 draw against Wales at The Recreation Ground, West Kensington in a team made up exclusively of amateur players. His strengths were said to be in passing and kicking, but he was said to be too slow to be an international.
