Amble, Northumberland born right half Jimmy Allen began his football career with Stakeford United from where he joined First Division Huddersfield Town, making his Football League debut, and only appearance for The Terriers, against Preston North End in January 1935. In the summer of 1935 he joined Third Division (South) club Queen’s Park Rangers and was a regular in The R’s line up during 1935-36, scoring his first career goal in a 3-1 home win over Exeter City that October, before losing his place in October 1936 the following season, having scored again in a 4-2 win over Walsall the previous month. He played once more for QPR before joining Clapton Orient in the summer of 1937. However he made only 9 appearances for The O’s during 1937-38 before leaving professional football in 1938.
