Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire born inside forward Bob Green played junior football for Tewkesbury Town in 1928 before joining Third Division (South) Brighton & Hove Albion in 1929, for whom he made his Football League debut at Norwich City in April 1930, playing 3 times before the season end. A further 3 appearances followed in 1930-31 before First Division Derby County signed him in the 1931 close season, but in 2 seasons at The Baseball Ground he only managed a single first team outing at Blackpool that August. He joined Second Division Manchester United in the summer of 1933 and scored 4 goals in 9 appearances during 1933-34, before a move to Stockport County the following summer, where he scored 16 goals in 1934-35, and where his 2 seasons yielded 24 goals from 59 appearances. He then joined non league Cheltenham Town in 1936.
