Horncastle, Lincolnshire born right back Harry Bulling began his football career with West Bridgford Juniors, playing for Heanor Town in 1910 before joining Southern League Watford in May 1911. He made his debut in September 1911, making 103 appearances and scoring once for Watford until the suspension of football due to the onset of the First World War, and he played 35 games as The Hornets won the Southern League Championship in 1915.

Bulling served in the Armed Forces during the War, and after guesting for Nottingham Forest during wartime football, he joined them formally in August 1919, making his Football League debut in a Second Division match at Rotherham County the same month. He played six seasons at The City Ground and was ever present as they won the Second Division Championship in 1921-22. After 2 goals in 199 appearances for Forest he retired from professional football, joining non league Shirebrook in the close season of 1926.
