Description
Blackwell, Derbyshire born left back Harry Jones played for Blackwell Wesley Guild in 1907, joining Mansfield Wesleyans, the forerunner of Mansfield Town in 1908, joining Blackwell Colliery in 1910. He signed for Second Division Nottingham Forest in July 1912 from Blackwell Colliery and he made his Football League debut at Hull City that October. He played both sides of World War One for Forest, missing only 2 games as they won the Second Division Championship in 1922.
He won an England cap in May 1923 when he was selected against France in Paris in a 4-1 victory. He also played once for The Football League in September 1923 in a 6-2 victory over The Irish League but soon thereafter he played his last game for Nottingham Forest in December 1923 retiring through injury before later joining non league Sutton Town in December 1924 after 10 goals (of which 4 were penalties) in 239 appearances for Forest.
