Grimsby born goalkeeper Walter Jennings joined his hometown club from local junior football in 1919, making his debut in the Second Division against Coventry City on New Year’s Day 1920 and playing twice more that month. He joined new Football League club Swansea Town that summer but only made 3 more appearances for them over the next 2 seasons, before joining Southend United in the summer of 1922. He played 14 times for Southend that autumn but lost his place in November and only played once more for them before joining non league Boston Town in 1924. He returned to The Football League with Blackpool in 1925, and made 4 appearances for them in the 1925-26 season before finishing with the professional game.
