Description

Alves, Moray born right back Billy McKay began his football career began his football career with Highland League club Elgin City before moving south to join Lancashire Combination club Darwen in 1920. From there he moved to fellow Combination club Barrow in August 1820 and when the joined the Third Division (North) he made his Football League debut in their inaugural League fixture against Stockport County in August 1921. McKay was Barrow’s regular right back for their first three League seasons, making 104 appearances as they struggled to retain their League status, but in 1924 he joined Southern League club Mid Rhondda United before returning to play for Elgin City in 1925. He then emigrated to play in the Canadian soccer leagues in 1926 and little is known of his career thereafter.
