Description

Brabourne, Kent born right back Charlie Brooks began his football career as an amateur on the books at Arsenal during 1930-31, but he didn’t play for their first eleven and joined Isthmian League club Nunhead in 1931. He then spent four years at Folkestone from 1932 before joining Third Division (South) club Clapton Orient in May 1936, for whom he made his Football League debut against Watford in December 1937, having the previous month played in a Third Division Cup tie at Queen’s Park Rangers and in an FA Cup First Round win at Torquay United. He played in 3 further League matches in January 1938 before leaving the club to join Crystal Palace later in 1938, spending 1938-39 in Palace’s reserves without making their first eleven. His career was then ended by the outbreak of the Second World War.
