Description

Govanhill, Glasgow born outside left Wallace Wright joined amateur Scottish League club Queen’s Park in 1934 having previously been a member of their junior team infrastructure, and he made his Scottish League debut in a home win over Dunfermline Athletic in September 1934. In 1935 it was said of him that he had “the makings of a brilliant winger” and he was capped by Scotland at amateur level in 1936, scoring once. But after 13 goals in 66 appearances for The Spiders his career was significantly interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939.

He made 45 wartime appearances for Queen’s Park between April 1940 and April 1945, scoring a further 13 goals before retiring.
