Description
Fauldhouse, West Lothian born wing half Johnny Williamson started his football career with Scottish League club Armadale in 1920 and moved to First Division Preston North End a year later, making his Football League debut against Newcastle United in October 1921 and playing 7 FA Cup ties, including the FA Cup Final itself, in the cup run that saw Preston lose 1-0 to Huddersfield Town in the Final at Stamford Bridge. However, it wasn’t until 1924-25, during Preston’s relegation season from the First Division, that he played more games than his 21 appearances in his debut season, and after a season in the Second Division he left Deepdale to join Grimsby Town in the summer of 1926. However he played only once for Grimsby at the start of the 1926-27 season and soon joined non league Lancaster Town in 1927, playing for Darwen in 1929 and Morecambe in 1930 before retirement.
