Description

Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire born inside left Harry Williams began his football career with Hucknall Olympic immediately after the First World War, from where he joined First Division club Sunderland in 1920, his Football League debut and only appearance for The Wearsiders coming at Chelsea in March 1921. Within weeks he had left Sunderland to join Midland League club Chesterfield, playing once at the end of their 1920-21 Midland League campaign and scoring twice in two matches as Chesterfield won the Derbyshire Senior Cup, before they joined the new Third Division (North) in the summer of 1921.

He scored 10 goals in 28 appearances for The Spireites in their 1921-22 campaign, before being bought by Second Division club Manchester United in the 1922 close season, but after scoring twice for The Red Devils in 5 matches in the early stages of their 1922-23 campaign he lost his place and was moved on to Third Division (South) club Brentford in the summer of 1923, where he had two seasons as Brentford struggled towards the foot of the division, Williams scoring 8 goals in 56 matches for The Bees. However he lost his place in early March 1925, most likely suffering a career ending injury, and never played professional football again.
