Description

Stoke-on-Trent born left half Eli Turner played junior football in The Potteries before the First World War  for Stoke St Peter’s in 1912, Milton Brotherhood in 1913 and Kidsgrove Wellington in 1914 but after the War was over he joined Central League club Crewe Alexandra in 1919 and when they joined the Football League in 1921 he played in their inaugural League fixture at Tranmere Rovers that August, occasionally filling in at inside left or centre forward. He played six seasons of League football and was a near ever present in 1923-24 and 1924-25, missing one and two matches respectively, before losing his place in January 1927 and joining non league Oswestry Town after 6 goals in 221 appearances for The Alex. He joined Runcorn later in 1927, his last known club before retiring.
