Description
Coatbridge, Lanarkshire born inside right Danny Tolland began his football career playing with Well Park in 1922 and Shettleston in 1923 before joining Scottish League Ayr United in 1924. He helped them to the Scottish Division Two Championship in 1927-28 and stayed 9 seasons at Somerset Park, having a spell on loan at Galston in 1932, before joining Third Division (South) Northampton Town in the 1933 close season.
He made his Football League debut against Luton Town that August, scoring twice in a 3-2 home defeat and he stayed with The Cobblers until December 1937, when, after having scored 30 goals in 160 appearances, he was transferred to Bristol Rovers. He played for The Pirates, scoring 5 times in 37 appearances, until the end of the 1938-39 campaign, and later emigrated to the United States in 1939 around the time of the outbreak of the Second World War.
