Description

Seaham Harbour, County Durham born wing half (Levi or) Levy Thorpe started his football career with Seaham Albion in 1907 and played for Seaham White Star in 1908 before joining Seaham Harbour in 1909. He joined Second Division Blackpool in February 1911 from Seaham Harbour and played 98 consecutive games (scoring once) for Blackpool from his the time of his Football League debut, which came against Leicester Fosse in March 1911, until his transfer to First Division Burnley in November 1913.

With Burnley he played 79 games either side of the First World War, scoring 5 times, as the team became a force to be reckoned with, however he wasn’t selected for the 1914 FA Cup Final. He subsequently moved to Blackburn Rovers in February 1920 becoming club captain, and he was transferred to Lincoln City in August 1922 after 92 games and a solitary goal for Rovers. Over the next two years at Lincoln he played 71 games, scoring 9 goals, before a move to Rochdale in June 1924, for whom he appeared in 33 games, later playing for non league Farnworth Town in 1926 before retirement.
