Description
Glasgow born winger Jim Tennant had 2 games for Third Division (South) Cardiff City in an 11 day spell either side of New Year 1933, making his Football League debut in a 1-1 draw at Gillingham two days after Christmas and then appearing in a 3-1 defeat at Norwich City, but returned to Scotland, where he had been a junior with Kilwinning Rangers in Ayrshire, to sign for St Johnstone. He made 172 appearances for Saints scoring 24 goals until the outbreak of the Second World War. At the time it was said of him: “He is perfectly at home on either the right or left wing and is a real ninety minute man. Jimmie is the go-ahead type of winger, and is a dangerous marksman when he chooses to cut in on goal.”
