Description

Croydon, Surrey born outside left Les Sullivan began his senior career in Lancashire with Fleetwood in in 1931 and he joined the books of Blackburn Rovers in February 1933 without making their first eleven. He played for non league Lytham later the same year before joining Rochdale in September 1934, making his Football League debut the same month against Halifax Town. He scored 9 goals in 38 games for ‘Dale in his debut season and was signed by First Division club Brentford in July 1935, but he didn’t get into their first team before joining Bristol Rovers in April 1936.

He had two seasons at Eastville scoring 10 goals in 45 appearances before being signed by Second Division Chesterfield in July 1938, where he made 9 appearances during 1938-39 before joining Stockport County in July 1939. He played only once for Stockport before the outbreak of the Second World War forced the abandonment of peacetime football, and effectively ended his career – after the War he played for non league Macclesfield in 1945 before retiring.
