Description

Giltbrook, Nottinghamshire born right back George Stimpson played for Ainsworth United Methodists in 1928 and Kimberley Amateurs in 1929, before signing for Third Division (South) Notts County in 1930, making his Football League debut at Bristol Rovers in February 1931 and helping The Magpies win the Third Division (South) Championship at the end of the season, Stimpson having made 11 appearances. He played three seasons in the Second Division for Notts, before joining non league Rhyl Athletic in 1934 after 93 appearances.

In the 1936 close season he returned to Football League action with Exeter City making 32 appearances for The Grecians during a single season in Devon, before a return to the East Midlands the following summer when he was released and joined Mansfield Town. He missed only two games for Mansfield between then and the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, which effectively ended his senior career after 97 appearances for The Stags. During the War he played for Giltbrook Villa and after the conflict he returned to non league football with Brinsley in 1945.
