Loughborough, Leicestershire born centre half Fred Sharman played junior football for Loughborough Red Triangle in 1930, Brush Sports in 1931 and Loughborough Corinthians in 1932 before joining First Division Leicester City in 1933, making his Football League debut against Liverpool in February 1934. Although relegated with Leicester in 1935, he played 41 League matches as they won the Second Division Championship in 1936-37, and Sharman was a regular through to the suspension of peacetime football due to the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, which effectively finished his senior football career after 19 goals in 203 appearances for The Foxes. After the War he returned to play for non league club Brush Sports in 1945.
