Preston born centre half Moses Sanders began his senior career with Crewe Alexandra in 1889 and he joined Football League club Accrington in the summer of 1890, making his debut against Burnley the same September, staying a single season and scoring once in 17 appearances before moving to Preston North End in the 1891 close season. He spent the next eight seasons with Preston, being a near ever present in the first seven, with Preston finishing runners up in the League Championship in each of his first two seasons at Deepdale. He also played in their 1893 FA Cup semi final team that lost to Everton in a replay. He scored 23 goals in 230 appearances for The Lilywhites before joining Woolwich Arsenal in May 1899. However the move was not a success and after less than a season he joined non league Dartford in 1900, before seemingly moving on to Barrow around 1902.
NB this image raises a minor conundrum. This image was published in 1902. It is very probable he was either playing (more likely) or had a managerial role (less so) at Barrow, hence the reference to his club in the image, however the last formally recorded club he played for was Dartford.
