Description
Swansea, Glamorgan born inside or outside right Dan Samuel began his football career with Llanelly from where he was signed by Third Division (South) club Southend United in August 1932, making his Football League debut against Newport County that September. After 3 goals in 7 matches for The Shrimpers he was released, joining Reading in May 1933, and after a loan spell at Glenavon the same year he made 3 appearances for The Royals in their final three League matches of the campaign, scoring in each of his two matches for Reading in their 1934-35 campaign when they finished runners up in the division.
In May 1935 he transferred to Queen’s Park Rangers but he remained on the fringes at Loftus Road, scoring 3 goals in 9 matches for Rangers before a move to non league Tunbridge Wells Rangers in 1936. He returned to Football League action, signing for Third Division (North) club Barrow in June 1937, and missed only 6 matches for The Bluebirds between then and the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, which forced the abandonment of peacetime football and effectively ended his career, having scored 15 goals in 87 matches for Barrow.
