Description

Coalville, Leicestershire born inside forward Tommy Robinson began his football career with Coalville YMCA in 1926 and played for Gresley Rovers in 1927 before signing for First Division Birmingham, making his Football League debut at Arsenal in March 1930, but in four seasons at Birmingham he was very much a fringe player and he joined Blackpool in 1933 having scored once in 11 appearances for The Blues.

It proved a brief spell at Blackpool where he made just two starts in the late summer before joining Chesterfield in October 1933, for whom he scored a hat-trick against Rotherham in February 1934. But after 11 goals in 27 appearances he was again on the move, joining Lincoln City in the 1934 close season. He scored 14 times for Lincoln in 35 appearances as they came 4th in the Third Division (North) in 1934-35, but spent 1935-36 with Northampton Town where he found opportunities limited and scored twice in only 4 appearances.

Joining Gillingham in June 1936 he got back amongst the goals, finishing as their second top scorer with 13 goals from 39 appearances in his single season at Priestfield, from where he joined Walsall in May 1937, for whom he scored once in 15 games. He joined non league Tunbridge Wells Rangers in 1938 and finished his career back in the Midlands by joining Nuneaton Borough in 1939.
