Description

Witton Park, County Durham born inside left Alfred Robinson began his football career with Stranton Parish Church and played for West Hartlepool in 1903 from where he was signed by Sunderland in 1904, spending 1904-05 on their books without making a first team appearance for The Wearsiders. He signed for Second Division club Stockport County in 1905, making his Football League debut against Manchester United in January 1906, scoring 3 goals in 15 appearances for The Hatters before the season end. But the following season he was on the fringe and he played just 5 matches before a move to North Eastern League club Carlisle United in the 1907 close season. A regular for The Cumbrians over the next two seasons, he attracted the First Division scouts and was signed with team mate James Wishart by Sheffield United in April 1909, but he failed to break through into The Blades’ first eleven and joined Spennymoor United in 1910, his last recorded club.
