Kirkcaldy, Fife born right back Archie Ritchie began his football career with East Stirlingshire in 1888 and whilst with The Shire he was capped by Scotland when he played in a 4-3 win over Wales at The Racecourse Ground, Wrexham in March 1891. He joined First Division Nottingham Forest in September 1891 and made his Football League debut against Stoke the same month, his career at Forest was most notable for him being a member of their team that won the 1898 FA Cup Final when they beat Derby County 3-1 at The Crystal Palace. He made 171 appearances over 7 seasons at The City Ground before joining Southern League Bristol Rovers in 1899. He then finished his career with a season at Southern League Swindon Town, playing 31 League and FA Cup matches for The Robins during 1900-01.
