Description
Scotswood born goalkeeper Billy Richardson joined Scotswood in 1919 after the end of the First World War before signing for Second Division Blackpool in 1920, making his debut at Coventry City that September. He played 32 games in his first season at Bloomfield Road but lost his place in 1921 making only 3 further appearances before joining Bury in the summer of 1922. He was an ever present as Bury were promoted to the First Division as Second Division runners-up in 1923-24 and played a further 5 seasons for Bury in the First Division before leaving after they were relegated in 1929, joining Stockport County after 228 appearances for The Shakers. He played 2 seasons at Edgeley Park playing 41 times for County, narrowly missing out on promotion in his first season as they finished Third Division (North) runners up in 1929-30, before retiring in 1931.
