Description

Barry, Glamorgan born left back Len Richards began his football career with The Canton Instutute in 1930 before spending 1931-32 on the books at Tottenham Hotspur, where he didn’t make a first team appearance. He joined Third Division (South) Cardiff City, still as an amateur, and made his Football League debut at Luton Town in October 1932, a match which proved his only appearance for The Bluebirds.

In 1933 he moved to Ireland and had spells with Irish League clubs Dundalk and Belfast Celtic, before a move to Scottish League Dundee in 1935. He returned to Wales to join Barry Town in 1936, before a return to Dundee in 1937. In the summer of 1938 he returned to Football League action joining Newport County, and made 36 appearances for County, helping them to win the 1938 Third Division (South) Championship, playing 3 Second Division fixtures before the outbreak of the Second World War forced the abandonment of peacetime football, effectively ending his career.
