Description

Outside right Harry Reay was born on Tyneside and is first recorded playing for Gateshead in 1889, subseqently playing for Shankhouse Black Watch in 1890, and Newcastle East End in 1891, which merged in 1892 to form Newcastle United.

Joining First Division Everton in April 1893, he made his Football League debut in a 1-0 win at Bolton Wanderers the same month, scoring the winner at their old Pikes Lane ground. He then played once more for Everton in an FA Cup tie at Southport Central in February 1895 in a match won 3-0 by Everton.

With such a limited playing career it’s uncertain why he was chosen to be featured on two cigarette cards between 1900 and 1902.
