Description

Sunderland born winger Peter Quinn played junior football for Bank Head Albion in 1908 and Spennymoor United in 1909 signing for Blackpool in December 1910. He made his Football League debut in the Second Division against Hull City the same month, playing both sides of World War One for Blackpool before joining Preston North End in March 1920 having scored 19 goals in 163 appearances for The Seasiders. During the First World War Quinn won the Military Medal and bar for his gallantry.

At Preston he played exactly 100 games over the next 2 seasons and appeared in both their 1921 FA Cup semi final team beaten at Hillsborough by eventual winners Tottenham Hotspur, and their losing 1922 FA Cup Final team beaten by Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge. After a short spell at non league Fleetwood he then played 9 matches for Bury in the second half of 1922-23 scoring twice before moving to New Brighton in July 1923 where he appeared in 32 games the next season, scoring twice before retiring from professional football.
