Description

Sheffield born inside forward Arthur Price began his football career with Sharrow Old Boys, and played for Worksop Town in 1911, from whom he joined Second Division club Leeds City in 1912, making his Football League debut that December against Fulham, scoring in a 2-3 home defeat. He played both sides of the first World War for The Peacocks, however when they were forced to resign from the League in October 1919 he joined First Division club Sheffield Wednesday after 26 goals in 78 appearances for Leeds City.

At Wednesday he scored his first goal in November at Derby County but couldn’t help Wednesday avoid relegation in his debut season, and from February 1920 he increasingly appeared at left half. He played three seasons for The Owls, scoring 4 times in 82 matches before a transfer to Third Division (South) club Southend United in the summer of 1922. However he played only 3 matches for The Shrimpers in November that year, two of which were FA Cup ties, before moving to Midland League club Scunthorpe & Lindsey United in 1924. He subsequently joined Bakewell in 1925, his last known club before his eventual retirement.
