Description

Platt Bridge, Lancashire born right back Bob Pollard began his football career with local teams Platt Bridge United and Lancashire Combination team Plank Lane and signed for Third Division (South) club Exeter City in the summer of 1920, making his Football League debut against Luton Town in April 1921. He had nine seasons at St James’ Park and missed only one match in 1924-25 as Exeter finished seventh in the division, their best finish during his time with The Grecians.

After 269 appearances for Exeter City, Pollard joined Queen’s Park Rangers in the 1929 close season, making 72 appearances for Rangers before a move to Cardiff City in the summer of 1932, where he played a single season for The Bluebirds, making 31 appearances, then joining a host of other British footballers at the time playing football in the French League in 1933 when he signed for Saint Etienne, his final club before his eventual retirement.
