Bristol born Fred Pincott, a centre half, began his career with Victoria Albion In the first division of Bristol & District League and then signed professional forms for Wolverhampton Wanderers, with whom he toured the South of France.

He joined Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in 1934 and stayed with the club until the outbreak of war in September 1939. altogether making 212 first team appearancss, including 93 consecutive matches.

He was guest player with Bristol City during the Second World War, and served in the Army with The Devonshire Regiment. He also played for Chester and Bath, and in two Command games.

On demobilisation in 1946 he took up an appointment with Gravesend and Northfleet, in the Southern League After going to Birmingham on a FA. coaching course, he joined Exeter City in 1949 and Newport County as a coach, and played and coached for Bideford in 1950-51, also playing for St Martin’s.
