Description

Howdon, Wallsend, County Durham born left back Bill Pierce began his football career began his football career at the end of the First World War with Hirst Park United, playing for Newbiggin Athletic in 1919, Ashington in 1920, Stakeford United in 1921 and Bedlington United in 1922, from where he was signed by Third Division (South) club Queens Park Rangers in July 1923, making his Football League debut at Swansea Town in October 1923. Pierce had nine seasons at Loftus Road but lost his place in February 1930 and played only 5 more matches for Rangers before joining Carlisle United in August 1931 after 3 goals in 193 matches for Queens Park Rangers.

He had a single season at Brunton Park, playing 22 matches for The Cumbrians, before a move to Irish League club Larne in 1932. He also played for Larne based Intermediate club Newington Rangers in 1933 before a move to Distillery later the same year, his final recorded club before his eventual retirement.
