Tottenham, London born centre forward Harry Pidgeon began his football career with Gnome Athletic after the First World War and was signed by Southern League club Queen’s Park Rangers in 1919, from where he joined Third Division (South) club Southend United in 1921, scoring on his Football League debut in a win over Aberdare Athletic in November 1921 and in the return fixture, which was drawn 1-1 in Wales a week later. Pidgeon scored 5 times in 18 appearances during the season, but was consigned to the fringes in 1922-23 and made only one further appearance for The Shrimpers in a defeat at Gillingham in April 1923, before leaving the club to join non league Yeovil & Petters United in 1923.
