Liverpool born right half Jack Pendleton was at South Liverpool in 1915 but when peacetime football resumed after the end of the First World War he signed for First Division club Aston Villa in January 1920, making his Football League debut the following month against Arsenal, playing 6 times for Villa that season before joining Third Division (North) club Wigan Borough in May 1922. His two seasons at Wigan saw him score 3 times in 46 appearances, and in May 1924 he moved to Walsall, where he spent a single season scoring once in 40 appearances, before retiring from the professional game.
