Kirkdake, Lancashire born inside forward Tom Page had played in junior Liverpool football before signing for Rochdale in 1911. He joined First Division Everton in June 1913 and made his Football League debut that October against Middlesbrough, scoring in a 2-0 win at Goodison Park. However after 2 goals in 7 appearances he joined St Mirren the following summer.

After the interruption of the First World War, during which both he and his brother Jack appeared as wartime guests for Liverpool, Tom making 2 appearances for The Reds in 1916-17 and then scoring twice in a further match during 1918-19. his career resumed with Port Vale for whom he signed in June 1920. He had nine seasons at Vale, scoring 65 goals in 297 games, all in the Second Division, before he joined New Brighton in August 1929 for a single season, making 9 appearances and scoring once before joining non league Chorley in 1930.

His older brother Jack played for Rochdale, Everton, Cardiff, and Merthyr Town, and younger brother Louis played for among others Burnley, Manchester United and England. Another brother, Willie, played with Louis at Northampton Town.
