Southampton born inside forward Frank Oliver started his senior football career with Southern League Brentford in 1904, before being signed by First Division Everton the following year, for whom he made his Football League debut against Notts County in October 1905, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory. He also scored the next week in a 2-2 draw at Stoke, however he couldn’t retain his place and played only 3 more games for Everton over the course of the season.
He joined Second Division Clapton Orient in the summer of 1906, second top scoring in his debut season with 9 goals, but he spent 2 more seasons largely on the fringes of first team action. By the time he joined Southport Central in the summer of 1909 he had scored 1o goals in 39 appearances. He returned to Clapton Orient in 1912-13, playing a single additional first team match at Blackpool in February 1913.
